Our facilities on Bukom and Jurong Island form the hub for integrated refining and petrochemical production in Singapore. Aster Bukom is home to a 237,000 barrels per day refinery and a 1.1 million tonnes per year ethylene cracker. Aster Jurong Island spans more than 60 hectares and specialises in manufacturing key petrochemicals such as ethylene oxide, ethoxylates, styrene monomer, and propylene oxide.

Pulau Bukom

Pulau Bukom

Since 1961, Bukom has been at the heart of Singapore's petrochemical industry, home to the nation's first oil refinery. The strategic island has witnessed the growth of petrochemicals, trading and ancillary services, propelling Singapore to the forefront of the global energy sector.

Through decades of relentless innovation and adaptation, Bukom has undergone a remarkable metamorphosis.

Today, Aster Bukom Chemicals and Energy Complex stands as a world-class, fully integrated oil and chemicals manufacturing hub providing transport fuels, base oils, bitumen, base chemicals, and specialty chemicals such as butadiene to customers in Asia and beyond. Together with Aster Jurong Island Chemical Complex, it supplies energy and advanced chemical products to meet the growing needs of customers across the region. The site is also well connected via pipelines to downstream customers on Jurong Island and the wider Singapore ecosystem.

Aster Bukom Chemicals and Energy Complex has one of the largest oil and chemicals terminals in Singapore with 13 jetties capable of berthing even the world’s largest oil tankers via a single buoy mooring (SBM).

Singapore’s First Electric Ferries

Introduced in May 2023, Penguin Refresh is the first of three fully electric harbour craft that will ply the route between mainland Singapore and Bukom.

These 200-seater ferries will transport 3,000 passengers daily or about 1.8 million passenger trips annually. Part of a project aimed at transitioning to a low-carbon future, they will save 6,258 tonnes of CO2 emissions as well as 1,952 tonnes of fuel per year for Bukom.

This initiative is significant in marine electrification as it represents Singapore's first fully electric ferry service.

Marine Terminal

Aster on Pulau Bukom a Marine Terminal that features an extensive network of 13 jetties and a Single Buoy Mooring (SBM). Twelve jetties are situated on Pulau Bukom Besar and one on Pulau Ular, with the SBM positioned about two miles south of the island.

This strategic configuration allows for efficient handling of crude oil imports primarily through the SBM, while refined products are transported via underwater pipelines and vessels that berth at the terminal’s wharves.
